FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Scooter’s Coffee Partners with Local Schools for Fourth Annual Day of Giving
100% of Proceeds Will Help Send Football Teams to Jamaica to Build Homes

Blue Springs, MO, May 6 2019 – For the fourth year in a row, on Saturday, May 11, Scooter’s Coffee will host a Day of Giving to send students from Blue Springs High and Blue Springs South on a service project in Jamaica. All three Blue Springs locations will donate 100% of proceeds for the day to the trip (1116 SW. 7 Hwy.,1310 NW 7 Hwy., 1230 NW Woods Chapel Rd.).

“When we got involved with this cause in 2016, we saw how powerfully the Day of Giving impacted both the community and the football players,” stated Mackenzie Burnett, who owns all three Blue Springs locations. “Since then, we have opened two more locations in Blue Springs, and we are excited to carry this meaningful tradition to all three stores.”

Over the past three years, Scooter’s has raised nearly $20,000 for this service trip. With the money, football players from both high schools travel to Jamaica to help construct homes for Harmons, a jungle valley community. Since 2016, the group has built seven homes.

“The people of Blue Springs have embraced Scooter’s Coffee since we opened our first store in 2013,” said Burnett. “Being able to give back to the community, particularly through the youth, is extremely rewarding. We view this day as a celebration of these selfless teenagers who gain so much knowledge and humility from the service trip.”

In addition to donating 100% of the proceeds from the entire day, the football players going on this year's trip will also be collecting donations outside of each store.

“Scooter’s Coffee has shown us that they aren’t just committed to great coffee but also to great communities and making a difference in those communities. They are a pillar of the Blue Springs community and having the brand’s support has been vital in continuing this important mission every year,” stated Matt Marble, coach of the Blue Springs High School football team. “The players are proud of the work they accomplish on this trip, and the Day of Giving provides a wonderful opportunity to bring awareness to their journeys.”

Scooter’s Coffee recently opened its third location in Blue Springs on Woods Chapel Road and will be hosting a Grand Opening at this store in the coming weeks.
